| "Went from a 30 Degree Tilt To a 5 Degree Tilt" |

On October 21, 2006 I developed a compression fracture of a thoracic vertebra that sent me to the Emergency Room at a local hospital. The pain was quite severe and I thought that my rib cage had collapsed. A friend encouraged me to see Rev. Dr. Chandel for a healing. Initially I was reluctant to do so because my allopathic (Western) physician informed me that all I could do was control the pain with medication and wait for healing. He also offered me the latest experimental treatment for osteoporosis, an injectable parathyroid hormone that I was reluctant to use because of a black box (osteosarcoma) warning for the drug.
To make matters worse, three years ago I developed a spontaneous fracture of the sacrum that left me with a 30 degree forward tilt. While I had worked diligently with a physical therapist, rolfer and acupuncturist my posture was that of a bent older woman. As a matter of fact, the sacral fracture transformed me from an energetic active person into an “old woman”. The addition of a compression fracture of the thoracic vertebrae seemed to seal my fate. My spine was going to fail me and soon I would be dependent upon a cane or walker.
My first consultation was with Dr. Chandel on October 28th and I experienced for the first time what he calls Shakti Healing or his gift that he considers not his own, but one given by God. He maintains that this procedure releases blockages so that healing can occur. Can this actually happen? Let us look at the evidence for one case alone—my bent and painful body.
Following my first healingI realized that the severe pain between my shoulder blades had decreased to a minor annoyance—it was merely a slight ache. The following morning I noticed that my posture was almost erect. A 30 degree forward tilt was now about a 5 degree tilt and with a little effort I could move my rib cage directly over my pelvis, a maneuver that is known as “standing tall and erect.” I could turn my body at the waist to look over my shoulder which meant that I could safely drive a car. And blessedly, the pain was gone.
My background in the health science research makes me question cures that do not follow the medical model. But has medical science neglected what Dr. Andrew Weil (1995) termed “Spontaneous Healing”? Dr. Weil posits that many modern medical treatments merely treat symptoms. He also says that medical scientists and physicians consider spontaneous healing events to be just stories that have little practical application. I agree with Dr. Weil, medical scientists and physicians need to examine these phenomena carefully and not toss them aside as a placebo effect.
I am following my progress as carefully as a scientist observes a clinical experiment. My progress to date is phenomenal. I am without pain and have used no drugs to mask pain since Dr. Chandel initiated treatment. My posture is almost fully erect. My energy is very high and I’ve returned to an active schedule.
What will the next six months bring? Time will tell if my spine remains erect and does not develop any more vertebral fractures. My next report in six months should allow sufficient time to determine whether or not my progress is sustained. I will wager that Dr. Chandel’s Shakti healing are as real six months from now as they are today.
